SCHOOL VISION
At PS 347, our vision is to create an inclusive educational environment where Deaf, CODA, Hard of Hearing and hearing communities in New York City academically thrive together. As a bimodal dual language ASL and English program, we aspire to empower Deaf, CODA, Hard of Hearing and hearing children through a collaborative teaching approach that fosters language fluency, academic achievement and cultural proficiency. By bridging the gap between the Deaf, CODA, Hard of Hearing and hearing worlds, we aim to cultivate mutual understanding, respect, and appreciation, ensuring that every student is equipped to navigate and enrich both cultures while being academically competitive. Our dual language program enhances academic outcomes by promoting bilingualism, improving cognitive skills, and fostering cross-cultural understanding. By the end of 8th grade, students are proficient in both ASL and English, have a richer understanding of Deaf culture and are academically prepared for high school and beyond.
MISSION STATEMENT
At PS 347, a 3K-8 school, our mission is to transform the educational landscape for Deaf, CODA, Hard of Hearing and hearing children. We foster a collaborative environment where the unique identities of our students and staff converge, empowering us to enhance educational outcomes for students. Through data inquiry cycles, and a multi-modal approach to education for Deaf, CODA, Hard of Hearing and hearing children, grounded in the Science of Reading principles, we aim to inspire every student to achieve their fullest potential while embracing and celebrating the rich diversity of our community.
